Deutschland.. ich vermissen dich!

In English, Germany I miss you! I really have been missing my family in Germany lately. I'm really hoping I get accepted to UNT so I can take part in the year long exchange program in Germany... which is held pretty close to where my family lives! As I sit at school thinking about all what I did this summer, the one thing that comes to mind the most is just hanging out with my family. Here's a few pictures of my family while I was in Germany this summer.Gotta love the Alvarez family! Well I'm really hoping that I get to go back this summer, hopefully as a graduation present kinda thing! (:
Well ,let's just see if I can make it through this first semester of senior year! STRESSFUL!

Goodbye sweet sweet summer):

So in about 8 hours I will begin my last year of high school!! The summer went by way too quickly! But Germany was amazing!!! So now I'm gearin' up for another German filled summer.(;
Time to get a second job, on top of the one I already have at the driving school on town. I tell ya those plane tickets are not cheap! But at the end of all the lonnngggg hours worked will be 2 1/2 long months of Germany. And maybe if I'm lucky Paris and Spain will be somewhere in the mixture. So relaxing and sightseeing is over, time to get back to reality Gabby. Which consists of stacks of homework, hours of dance practice, and lots of working!

2 months living in Deutschland

Wow it's been since May 9th since I've last posted! I have been so busy. My 2 month long trip to Germany was with out a doubt amazing!! I did plan on posting during my trip, but you know how it goes, I got side tracked and totally forgot. But I had a wonderful time visiting my family. I also got to go to Legoland Deutschland, which was so cool! I know I know I'm 17 years old.... but it was so cool! I also got to go to Tripsdrill amusement park which was a blast! I did many things during my 2 month long stay, I wish it could have lasted forever. But there is always next year to look forward to. But i'm also hoping that this year will not only bring Germany, but Spain and France as well. I don't know... we will see. But we'll take it on one country at a time!

Lass uns gehen!

Or in English, let's go! My trip to Germany is getting closer and closer. I'm getting so anxious! I'm just ready to be there already! But I know it will come and go soon enough. I just can't wait to get back and see everything and everyone again. For some odd reason. I feel like I'm going home or going back to my second home... if that makes any sense. I just feel at peace there. It's so much different than here in America. I wish I could live in two places at one because if I could I would live here in America and in Germany. But hopefully I will get a chance to live in Germany, because i'm going to college to study German and German literature. So hopefully when I get out I'm able to find some kind of job that involves me to live or travel to Germany. Well we will see soon enough!

Ready,Set,Go??

So the days is almost here for me to purchase my plane ticket to happiness! In just a week or two I will do just that. I'm getting really anxious about the whole ordeal. My German lessons are going quite well. But I'm really nervous about when I actually have to use my German to native speakers, I'm afraid I will say something wrong and make myself look stupid. But I guess I will go through that and be ok after awhile. When I arrive in Germany I will be drying with my family. And once settled in I will begin volunteering at the local "kindergarden", or as we call it here in America, daycare. I will also be volunteering at pharmacy and a childrens hospital close by. I'am doing so, because in a year when I go off to college I will majoring in Nursing and minoring in German. And I'm hoping me volunteerig in Germany with something to do with the medical field will help with my college applications. Well I know I haven't been keeping with my blog here, but
like I said I've been really busy. Hopefully I can post something every other couple days. Well time to study.

New Future Plan?

So today the college I'am hoping to go to has a study abroad program where I can live an go to college in Germany.I knew that they had these programs but I didn't know if the colleges I wanted to go to had it.So today I found out for sure they have it,and I'm so excited!I'am going to college here in Texas.I'am going to major in Nursing and Minor in German and Spanish.So I will have a double Minor.I know it will be alot to take on,but it's not like I'm learning Spanish and German for the first time.I have been learning Spanish from my dad's side of the family and school for 5 years.And I have been learning German from the other side of my family for 4 years.So I'am so excited for this great opportunity.And hopefully I'am able to get into this program so I can live in Germany for one year.That,I think would be amazing!

How it all begins.

So as of July 1,2009 my summer plans have been set...for the rest of my life.Well as i thought.On July 1,2009 I arrived in Frankfurt,Germany with my mother for a month long vacation.We were going to stay with my brother,who lives in Germany.I was ecstatic for a couple of reasons.For one,I was going to see my family who I hadn't seen in about eight months.And another reason was because,well duh I was in a historical and beautiful country.And this was a big deal to me,because I was a 16 year old girl who hadn't gone but from my home in Texas to California.So I was pretty excited.So the first week I was there I was kind of in awe of the difference between America and Germany.Not just the language and the scenery,but the little things.For instance,the third day I was there I tried their ice cream and it was just...different.I know it sounds kind of stupid but thats what I remember the most from that month in Germany,the little things.So throughout my month long stay in Hamm Am Rhein,Germany I visited with my family,saw and tried new things I liked.And while my mother and I were there we did go out and go sight seeing.One weekend we went to Wiesbaden Air Force Base.And the next weekend we went to Burg Eltz.Now let me tell you that was an experience I will never forget.And the following weekend we went to Aschaffenburg.During our stay in Aschaffenburg we went to a classic German fest with a family friend.And we also went to Schloss Johannisburg,which was beautiful!So all in all I have to say I loved my visit to Germany,and I would love to go back.And that's exactly what I'm planning to do this summer.But instead of a month stay I'm staying for two months.Wow,basically living in Germany,that I cannot wait for!
